Digital Technologies and Memory: The Search for Justice in South America

The manual systematises the experience of the projects plancondor.org and sitiosdememoria.uy, providing a technical contribution to the reflection and implementation of best practices in two key areas:

  • Recovery, systematisation, and digitisation of documents.
  • Georeferencing of sites where crimes against humanity were committed.

The text emphasises the importance of considering ethical aspects in projects that link technology, the promotion of human rights, and access to information. It is aimed at a wide audience, including members of institutions that define public policies on memory and archives, social organisations, activists, journalists, researchers, and academics.

The original Spanish version of this toolkit was funded by UCL Public Policy through Research England’s QR-PSF funding. The English translation was funded by UCL Research Culture.
